Guide · Texture
Why scrubbing harder makes texture look worse.
Physical scrubs feel productive and give you an immediately smoother surface, which is why they're addictive. Overdone, they leave skin looking flushed and feeling tight, and tight skin makes texture read as more obvious, not less.
A cleanser that removes the day without stripping does more for how pores look than any scrub. If your skin squeaks after cleansing, that's the thing to change first.
Then keep the layers on top light. Heavy creams over congested-looking skin tend to emphasise exactly what you were hoping to soften.
Common questions
- Can I shrink my pores?
- Not permanently — pore size is mostly genetic. Keeping them clear and skin well-hydrated changes how visible they are, which is the honest version of the goal.
- Is double cleansing necessary?
- Useful if you wear sunscreen or makeup, which you should be. Otherwise one thorough cleanse in the evening is fine.
- Do pore strips help?
- They clear the very top of a blocked pore and nothing underneath, and they can leave skin looking irritated. We don't stock them.
